First day of 2013

... and I woke up with the memory of sitting with Gabriel for those last few minutes in the early hours of August 22.  He was so cold, with one foot already in heaven.  I whispered in his year how much I loved him and how wonderful it would be for him to run and play.  I told him he would have his own room ( in that house, there are many mansions) and that time was different, so his mom and I would be along in a minute.

This must be healing, because until today, I haven't been able to be back in that holy moment. I miss that boy.

I've done my goal setting for the year, and keeping a journal is high on the list - thus this new blog.  Also up there are exercising and earning goals, painting more, remaking the English garden, and various career things.  I've refilled the bird feeders, planned my dinner, checked my bank account, did away with yet more paper detritus. This is the sort of New Year's Day I've come to relish, a true sabbath.

Now the day is drawing in, and it's time to think about a fire and writing a few notes I've not been able to face since Gabe's death.  I am looking forward to a healthy, happy 2013 - the start of another big adventure.

Beau and Cookie, worn out from watching the red squirrel bandit.
